This week saw the BCPML teams working across two sites in Porz and Kapellen in Germany, replacing critical generator systems in the middle of winter. Low temperatures, snow and poor conditions added pressure to an already complex task, but the work went ahead as planned.

In the IT and critical infrastructure world, upgrades cannot be pushed back simply because conditions are difficult. Power resilience is essential, and any delay introduces unnecessary risk. With that in mind, the team focused on doing what was required to keep both sites protected while the changeovers took place.

The weather created additional challenges around access, handling equipment and maintaining safe working areas. These were managed through careful planning on site and constant communication between engineers. Adjustments were made where needed, without losing momentum or compromising standards.

Both generators were successfully swapped out, with the sites remaining supported throughout the works. Installation and commissioning were completed in line with the programme, ensuring the systems were ready to support long term operational reliability.

This is the reality of working in critical environments. Systems still need upgrading, resilience still matters, and expectations do not change when conditions are uncomfortable. Our teams understand that and approach every project with the same level of focus, whatever the circumstances.

Another set of upgrades completed, strengthening infrastructure and maintaining confidence where it matters most.
