Barbour Consulting mobilised one of its expert teams to Brussels this week for a complex generator upgrade project. The team’s task was to carefully remove a 10-ton, 1MVA Caterpillar Generator from a tight space, replace its large security louvres and install new 12ft high attenuation cartridges. This delicate operation required precise coordination and expert handling to ensure the safe removal and transportation of the old generator.
With the old generator safely loaded and transported, we installed a brand new 150KW Generator complete with an automatic fuel transfer system from the site’s bulk tank. The new setup also included a fuel leak detection system, a transition panel for converting 1000mm cables to 95mm cables, and full remote monitoring capabilities.
To ensure uninterrupted power supply during the installation, a Barbour temporary generator was connected and ready to provide backup power if needed. Our meticulous approach ensured that all work was completed without any power interruptions.
Once the installation was complete, we conducted thorough load bank testing and multiple black building tests to verify the new generator’s performance and reliability. The tests confirmed that the new generator was fully operational and ready to support the site’s power needs.
This successful project highlights Barbour Consulting’s commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient solutions under challenging conditions. Our team’s expertise and attention to detail ensured that the project was completed on time and within budget, leaving another satisfied client.
