The BCPML team recently swapped the UK heat for something on another level, travelling to Riyadh, where temperatures reached around 52°C.
The reason for the trip is an important one. We have been carrying out load testing on a generator before it is transported to the client’s site for installation early next month.
Testing equipment in conditions like these gives the team a good opportunity to see how the generator performs in the environment it is actually going to operate in. High temperatures put additional demands on equipment, so making sure everything is performing as expected before it leaves for site is an important part of the process.
Testing Before It Reaches Site
Load testing is a key part of preparing a generator for operation.
Rather than simply starting the generator and confirming that it runs, the team can put it through different levels of electrical load and monitor how it responds. This provides a much clearer picture of its performance and gives the client confidence that the equipment is ready before installation begins.
Doing this work before transport also makes practical sense. If something needs attention, it is far easier to identify and deal with it before the generator is on its way to site.
Working Across Different Environments
Riyadh is certainly a long way from a typical UK working environment, but international projects are nothing new for the BCPML team.
Every country brings its own considerations, whether that is climate, logistics, access, local requirements or simply getting the right people in the right place at the right time.
Having experience of working internationally, along with reliable in-country partners, makes a significant difference. It means projects can be planned with the realities of the location in mind rather than trying to apply the same approach everywhere.
Once testing is complete, the generator will be transported to the client’s site ready for installation.
