The BCPML team has been on site in Amsterdam this week completing the commissioning and handover of a new cooling installation.

The project involved the installation of six 75kW chilled water CRAH units, along with new pipework and dedicated power supplies. As with most upgrades in operational environments, the work had to be coordinated carefully to avoid disruption while maintaining site stability.

The pipework installation formed a significant part of the programme, requiring careful routing and integration into the existing system. Power was installed and terminated to suit the new units, ensuring the infrastructure matched the cooling demand. Each stage was checked and tested before moving forward, keeping the process controlled rather than rushed.

Access presented its own challenge. Part of the installation required specialist rope access engineers, with our certified abseil team working down the side of the building to complete sections that could not be reached by conventional means. It is the sort of detail that rarely appears in a specification document but makes a real difference on site.

Once installation was complete, commissioning confirmed that all six CRAH units were operating as designed. Flow rates, temperatures and control integration were tested and adjusted where required. The system was then handed over fully operational.

From the client’s perspective, the transition was straightforward. The work was delivered without disruption, without unnecessary complexity and without drawing attention to itself. That is usually the sign that the planning has been done properly.

Another project completed, strengthening site cooling capacity and leaving behind a system ready to support ongoing demand.
